Sunday ride review

It was a beautiful morning for a ride. At the Citycat stop at 5.45am were: Michelle, Kirsty, Bron, Katina, Celia and myself. We rode straight to the top of Highgate Hill and down Gladstone Road to Sharp St. to pick up Jacque. Then it was to Tennyson to meet up with Emma so in total 8 riders which I think is a record.

Part of the ride was new for us in between Tennyson and Seventeen Mile Rocks. There was a very big hill on Clivedon Road which had me defeated half way but Bron got up there using a cunning zig-zag technique also adopted by Celia and Katina. Kudos to all 3 for getting to the top without having to get off!

After a brief stop to refuel and take a couple of photos it was back on the road again, across the Centenary Bridge and bike path all the way to Toowong. We'd clocked about 33km by this stage and Jacque and Emma were heading home in a different direction to us... but then there was the possibility of coffee. Do we have coffee? Do we go in the same direction as Jacque and Emma? Do we push on? Decisions decisions. Kirsty and Michelle had already pushed on so in the end, Bron and Celia went with Jacque and Emma for coffee while Katina and I decided to keep going and extend the ride to New Farm.
After coffee, the coffee girls all went on their merry way and would have each clocked about 40kms. Congratulations to Jacque for reaching this milestone after not being able to ride for so long.

We picked up Michelle and Kirsty en route and all four of us rode to New Farm Park and finally the journey home across the Story Bridge and along the river all the way from dockside to West End, rolling past the Citycat stop 4 hours after we left. It was our biggest ride yet with Michelle, Katina and I clocking 59+ kms and Kirsty, living that bit further away, clocking the first 60km ride of the group so two thumbs up for her YEEHAH!

I'm hoping for a trip to Nudgee Beach next weekend weather permitting.
