I look like this because a) I am feeling 100% better and b) I just came back from the ride we were supposed to do on Sunday. It really is very nice out there!
So. For those not in the loop, I was sick last Sunday so the good intentions of doing the planned 15km ride over the Go-Btw (see map, below) went down the drain. Today was the first day of feeling truly better and the sun was shining and I was feeling groovy cos I was on an early shift and had some rare afternoon time to myself so I thought sod it, I'll do it. It was glorious. I mean, what with the Olympics I was feeling a bit homesick over the past two weeks but this afternoon reminded me just how lucky I am to be here. The afternoon sun was warm, I was in a thin tshirt and AGAIN the sun was glinting off the water. Round by the Stokehouse and those other new restaurants, people were lounging on the grass just chilling out. Couples canoodling. The birds were playing and swooping eachother and I had a private Snow White moment with them. It was truly beautiful.
Anyway. 15km. It took me about an hour. Sometimes riding fast, sometimes just cruising. The hills are:
around the boat sheds near the markets (or you can cut through to avoid)
the Go Between Bridge
the Goodwill Bridge
that one on Riverside Drive
This Sunday It. Is. On. I'm so excited to do this one again. I'd say if we leave at 8 we'll be back by 10 once we take into account chatting and coffee and faffing about. Who fancies it?
