Just in time!!!

The cycling jerseys have arrived just i time for us to wear them on Saturday and they really are something special. Yes, we have gone there; that is beige lycra... to give the impression from a distance that we are wearing boob tubes. Pretty nifty, eh?  And how about those bullet bouncing bracelets? Thanks to Emma and Michelle for putting together our uniforms. Wonderful!

I've been waiting for these photos for a while but here they are! Sule's Christmas stall that he set up outside his house back in December.

Fruits of their labour...

Phoebe and Mary were SO excited counting out how much money they'd made. I had to take this picture quickly in case I got an idea ahead of time of what the total was. Once they'd finished counting, they had to announce it together at the same time. $122. Cue excited jumping around. It's lovely that they get excited even though they're not going to see a single cent of it!

Raffle Tickets and Busking

Congratulations to all for a mammoth effort today. Here's some photos taken by Katina from down at Davies Park Markets this morning. Michelle and Emma were setting up at 5.30am.

As you can see it was all hands on deck. Celia was there too. Thanks to Sule for getting involved and looking the part too. Thanks to Phoebe and Mary who, with Mari's help, raised $122!! It's a new record. You girls are legends.
Ticket sales from the market were $485.60 so together that's $607.60! Amazing.

Over at Fairfield we had a two support crew members down  - both Pete and Doug had the lurgies which meant Jacqui had to step in and be a soccer mum. Jax was on the phone organising her friend Louise to come down and help for couple of hours. Louise is also having a garage sale next week at her place in Ashby Street with all proceeds going to our fund!! At 12 o'clock, in walked Emma who had come from her 5.30 start at the markets to fill the gap in the Fairfield roster then started selling away.

At the shopping centre, it was much quieter than last week. The petting zoo wasn't there and there were a lot less people milling about - perhaps because of the long weekend. AND no Truly the spruiker on the microphone. But we did have a small but steady stream of well-wishers and customers including people who were quite open about having cancer themselves. It was at times a lot more sobering and emotional than I had expected. There are quite a few ticket holders out there who don't want that gym membership... or the bike! Having the list of items has been great - people have enjoyed checking it out. One guy today went all the way down the list and when he saw the Sol Breads voucher at the very bottom of the list he pointed at it and said that was the one for him and fingers crossed!

After my shift had finished I went home and did a quick hour-long ride. It was great to have a "i know who you are!" type of beeping behind me as I rode along Dornoch Terrace. It was Cate who must have been on her way to do her shift at Fairfield.

I don't know how much we made today at Fairfield yet so watch this space.

Sunday edit: Fairfield's total was $473.90 which is pretty amazing considering how few people there seemed to be. The total for the day was $1081.50! We all deserve a celebratory beer. What an effort.

Catching Up

With the school fiesta now done and dusted and all the photo booth pictures sent out, I now have a bit of catching up to do.

Let's rewind to Sunday: fiesta day. We decided to kick-start the day with a short, sharp hill ride doing the hour-long route at 6.30am. Riders: Kirsty, Michelle, Ruth and myself. Kirsty and Michelle had already done this route the previous day too when Michelle had made it all the way up Ivory Lane on her not-so-hill-loving bike. This was Ruth's first attempt and here she is reaching the top:

Later on in the mid afternoon at the Fiesta Photo Booth. Celia and Ruth came over to get their photos done for the arse/calves trivia question and had a little bop while they were there thanks to the fantastic River City steel band.

A couple of hours later...

 That's 9 riders all together in the same place at the same time!! (plus Donna, Marilyn, India and Emma-Kate). It's a very rare occurence - no wonder we got a bit excited.

Now let's fast-forward to Thursday where we had 5 riders pick up the Ithaca bike path that I rode on Saturday. Kirsty, Michelle, Emma, Celia and Jacque did the ride and here they are training with the Broncos! Little did those boys running past what greatness they were in the company of.
